Our class was one of the first recipients of the Purple Pride mat! Students received this mat for being respectful and walking quietly through the hallways. Great job!
This week we continued to review identifying the place value and value of a number. We also worked on writing numbers when they are read orally. We finished up the week with students comparing numbers as well as, putting them in order from least to greatest or vice versa. We will be having our first math test of the year on Monday, September 23rd. Our next chapter will focus on rounding, estimating, and adding and subtracting decimals. There are several students who have finished the multiplication, division, and mixed review time tests. I look forward to more students completing these tests in the next few weeks.
In language students have begun working on their Pioneer Days essay. Please ask your child to share this writing piece with you.
In science students were working on researching different scientists. We discovered what they did to change our every day lives. We will begin learning about a process called the Scientific Method.
Students will have their first social studies test on Thursday, September 26th. As students are preparing for any social test, they can access Mr. Feldewerd's website at http://4feldewerd.weebly.com/social.html
This week students also had bus safety rule review with Brock Zierden.
Mrs. Schultz visited our room to discuss the difference between a bubblegum brain and a brick brain. A bubblegum brain is when we train our way of thinking to believe that we can accomplish what we don’t think we can do through hard work and not giving up. A person who thinks with a brick brain believes that they can not do something, and may just give up on the task they are trying to accomplish. Mrs. Schultz also discussed an opportunity to be on the Student Council. Those who were interested in applying for this position were given an application to fill out. Applications are due on Tuesday, September 24th.
Upcoming Events:
Get those smiles ready.... Picture Day - Wednesday, September 25th
Kick-off for the Walk-a-thon was on Friday, September 20th. All students should have brought home a donation envelope. Students may begin brining in donations on Monday, September 23rd
Walk-a-thon / Early Dismissal - Friday, October 4th
Have a great week!
