This past week a link was sent via email to sign-up for a conference time. If you have not yet done so, please take some time to sign-up for a conference time on February 6th, 10th or 11. Thanks!
This coming week students will be participating in some Snow Week dress-up days.
Monday: Comfy Day
Tuesday: Dress Up Day: Western, Career, Character, Celebrity,
Old Person
Wednesday: Wacky Day
Thursday: Beach Day
Friday: Huskie Day
On Tuesday of this past week we took our Geometry test. This test included basic geometry vocabulary, finding the measurements of missing angles, and classifying polygons and various types of angles. We then began working on finding the perimeter and area of various polygons. These polygons can be very simple such as a pentagon or rectangle, or more complex with various polygons that make up one shape. Most students have found the procedure for finding perimeter and area of simple polygons fairly easy, but have been getting some problems incorrect because of accuracy. I have stressed that they need to show work step by step to ensure they have the correct answer.
In science students have been learning about 6 specific biomes. These biomes include Rainforests, Deciduous Forest, Deserts, Grasslands, Taigas, and Tundras. Next week we will begin discussing water biomes.
In social studies students are continuing to learn about the original 13 colonies. They will be having their chapter 6 test Friday, January 31st.
Students have been learning about several more “sign posts” in reading/language arts. These “sign posts” are various types of characteristics that students can look for as they are reading. These signs are very useful tools when looking at a reading piece more in-depth.
Up Coming Events:
January 31st: Social Test
January 31st: BECC - Monthly Activity
January 31st: Jam the Gym - Evening Basketball Games - Bring pop tabs to support the Ronald McDonald House
February 6, 10,11: Conferences
