We will be having our 5th grade November monthly activity on Tuesday, and will be watching the movie for the novel Hatchet. We will spend some time comparing and contrasting the novel versus the movie. Students have also filled the Husky House in the office with Positive Pride tickets, so they will be playing a school wide game of Turkey Bingo on Tuesday. We will also take some time before break to clean our lockers. It is amazing how much students can fit into such a small space!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
In math this week we learned how to subtract mixed numbers both with and without renaming. Since this was a chapter were students learned a lot of new skills, we reviewed both Thursday and Friday. We will be testing on Monday. We will then begin a new unit on Tuesday which will focus on rates and ratios. We will continue this unit after Thanksgiving break.
This week in science we discussed what makes up each layer of the soil, chemical and mechanical weathering, and different types of erosion. We will be having a short quiz on Monday. After Thanksgiving break, we will continue with the last two lessons in Chapter 9 which cover rocks and minerals.
Students tested on Wednesday, and have begun working on Chapter 4.
In reading students have finished the novel Hatchet. They will be testing on Monday.
