It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of September and beginning our second month of school. It has gone by very quickly. We will be having our first monthly activity on Tuesday, October 1st for those that qualify.
This week in math we worked on rounding, estimating, and adding and subtracting decimals. Students have been doing a great job with these review concepts. One step in rounding that has caused some difficulty is finding the correct place value, and then rounding to that specific number. Another skills that we need a little more practice with is borrowing when subtracting especially when we need to do multiple steps when borrowing. This is a very short unit so we will be reviewing on Monday, September 30th and testing on Tuesday, October 1st. Our next chapter will cover the concept of multi-digit multiplication.
In science this week we continued to learn about the scientific process. We have learned about the first three steps already. This week we took some time to review, and do some further work with practicing these steps. Next week we will work on step 4 which discusses how to properly conduct an experiment as well as, the role of control, independent, and dependent variables.
Students took their first social studies and reading tests this past week.
