Tuesday is the first day of Learning Adventures for those students who are registered. If you would still like to have your child attend, please contact me and I can send home the paper work to complete.
During math class on Monday students learned about multiplying times a power 10. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we reviewed skills for our test on Thursday
which consisted of multiplying and dividing decimals, exponents, powers of 10, and divisibility rules. On Friday we worked on making corrections on this test. You should see it come home sometime this week. Next week we will begin our next chapter which will focus on fractions. The first skill we will discuss is finding greatest
common factors and prime and composite numbers.
This week in science, students have been completing various hands-on experiments. Students are responsible for completing each step in the Scientific Method as they progress through an experiment. We have done an experiment where students have had to Save Sam(a gummy worm) and an experiment with a “Fortune Telling Fish”. We will complete two more experiments this coming
week, and take a written response test on Thursday. Students will need to explain what the Scientific Method is, as well as the steps used to complete this process.
There will be a social test on Friday. Students have the choice to take the paper/pencil test, or write a short story incorporating what they have learned. Those writing the story have already begun this process.
In Reading/Language Arts students have completed their Pioneer Days essay. They are also continuing their work with the novel Hatchet.
Upcoming Events:
Monday, November 4th: No School
Tuesday, November 5th: Learning Adventures begins
Thursday, November 7th: Open response Science test
Friday, November 8th: Social Studies test
