The Walk-a-thon went great on Friday. Students had a great time walking with friends on the the trail, and then participating in a variety of activity back at school. I look forward to meeting with parents beginning this Thursday for conferences.
We started off the week with our second test of the year. We then began working on multi-digit multiplication. Students were offered a variety of different opportunities to work on this skill. They worked in small groups as well as, developing a trip using Google Maps. Students were able to practice their multiplication skills through an everyday experience. Some students have been planning some very interesting trips. One student shared that the lunch meal cost $3,000! That must have been some meal.
In science we continued our practice with identifying variables in a scientific experiment. This week we also took a quiz focusing on testable questions, hypothesis, and variables. We began discussing the difference between an observation and an inferences. We will continue this practice next week as well. We will be ready for our first test of the year on Wednesday, October 16th.
Students are continuing to work on their Pioneer Days rough drafts. They also took their second reading test of the year.
We have only a few weeks of keying left. Most students are making some great progress. Just a reminder that this program needs to be completed by the end of the month. Students can also work on this program at home for extra practice.
Up Coming Events:
Conferences: October 11, 14, 15 - 3:45pm - 7:00pm
Book Fair: October 11th: 3:45pm - 7:00pm
October 14th: 11:00am - 7:00pm
October 15th: 11:00am - 6:45pm
No School: October 17th and 18th
Have a great week.
