In math this week we began working on multiplying decimals by whole numbers and decimals by decimals. With practice we are continuing to get more accurate. Most of us have the basic process down, but need to work on being more careful, and remembering to place the decimal and adding a comma when necessary. We need to also continue to work on writing numbers neatly in the appropriate columns and correctly multiplying and adding. We have discussed how important this is since one little mistake can cause our solution to the problem to be incorrect. Next week, October14th - 16th, we will begin practicing long division. We will begin with single digit division on Monday, and practice double digit division on Tuesday and Wednesday.
We finished discussing all six steps of the Scientific Method this week. We continued talking about observations and inferences. Did your child tell you I ate a
candle during class? If he/she didn't, ask them about it! We have also be practicing creating and reading different types of graphs this week as well to complete the sixth step of the Scientific Method. All students received a study guide help them study for our test on this coming Wednesday. There will also be a Quizziz game posted to Google Classroom on Monday evening. Students will complete this review in class on Tuesday, but will have a chance also access the Quizziz from home on Tuesday evening for more review. Next week, we will continue our work with graphs and conclusions on Monday. On Tuesday we will review for our test, and Wednesday we will take our Scientific Method unit test.
Since all 5th grade teachers are trying to complete unit work before the break this coming week, students will also have a social test on Tuesday.
