Happy Mother’s Day! This past week students took the Science MCA test, and the math FAST test. We also had our last class of the year with Officer Gannon. If you have not yet had a chance to read your child’s famous person research paper, please ask him/her to read it in Google Classroom. Students have been working very hard on the completion of this project. The final draft is due on Wednesday. A reminder was also sent home with students on Friday about the upcoming play on May 21st at 6:30pm in the BEAT. Please make sure you have your calendars marked for this great event!
On Monday and Tuesday of this past week we reviewed for our test on Wednesday. Students will be bringing this test home with them on Monday. Students are now working on a data analysis project. They are watching several videos describing how to make single and double bar graphs, a line graph and a line plot graph. Students will also practice how to use a spreadsheet to create these graphs as well. Along with creating these graphs, students are reviewing how to find landmark data: mean, median, mode and range. On Tuesday we will begin discussing probability, and do several activities related to this topic.
Students are working hard on completing all components of their research/wax museum reports. Along with working on the written report, students are creating their posters, and writing their speeches for the Wax Museum on May 23rd.
We are coming to the end of Science/Social/Reading rotations for the year.
In science we are finishing up our simple machine kit builds. In social studies students are discussing Chapter 11 which focuses on the three branches of government. Students are continuing their Literature Circles with the novel Sign of the Beaver.
