In math this week we are focusing on Geometry. So far we have discuss vocabulary words such as point, line, ray, line segment, as well as learning how to classify angles based on their sides or angles. We also learned the difference between a complementary angles which measure 90 degrees exactly, and supplementary angles which exactly measure 180 degrees. On Friday we learned about different types of quadrilaterals, and how to find the measure of a missing angle. The test will be Wednesday, January 23rd
Last week in language we began learning how to identify and write prepositional phrases. There are many prepositions which tell the when or where in the sentence. To practice finding and writing them, students made an origami house. On the inside students designed their bedroom, or another room in their homes. Students then wrote a paragraph using 5 when prepositions, 5 where prepositions, and 3 general prepositions. Students began typing this in Google Classroom. This is due on Monday.
We are continuing to discuss renewable and nonrenewable resources in science. We have learned about solar, wind, water, geothermal, and biomass energy sources. We have also been discussing the fossil fuels oil, natural gas, and coal. Our science test will be on Wednesday, January 23rd.
On Wednesday, January 9th students had the opportunity to listen to the St. John's Boy's Choir.
On Friday in Social, students worked on a webquest about the Pilgrims. Most students finished in class, but a few students may have had a few questions to finish over the weekend. Social test will be Thursday, January 17th
