Hopefully everyone has recovered from the latest snowstorm! At least we know that in April it should melt rather quickly! Students had a great time on the field trip to the Paramount on Wednesday. I hope your child told you about his/her favorite part. We will begin this week with Reading MCA testing on Monday and Tuesday afternoon from 1:00pm - 2:30pm.
In math this past week we continued our work with equations. Students hopefully worked on the review on their days off last week. We will be testing on this unit on Monday, April 15th. We will then begin reviewing various 5th grade math skills to prepare ourselves for math MCA testing which will be next week Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon again from 1:00pm-2:30pm.
Since we did not have school on Friday, we will take our weekly spelling test tomorrow, Monday April 15th. Students should almost be done gathering information for their report, and working on the outline. All students should have their research and outline completed by April 23rd.
This past week in science we discussed Newton’s Laws of Motion. We discovered we all have experience using these laws everyday, we just never put the scientific name to them before. This week we will be discussing simple and compound machines. We will learn about the six simple machines, and the three types of levers. Since we have several afternoons of MCA testing, and no school on Friday, we will test on this unit on April 26th or April 29th.
Students will have their social studies test on Wednesday, April 17th.
