We had another busy week! This week we attended Pioneer Days where we had the opportunity to learn about how our ancestors lived.
In math this week we have continued to work on multiplication facts as well as, working on place value of billions through ten thousandths. We also have been working on identifying and writing different forms of a number.
We had our first week of spelling this past week. We discuss words each Monday, and students will have the opportunity to ask questions and begin working on the assigned pages. On Friday is the spelling test.
Students also began working on Typing Quest which is our keying program. Students will have the opportunity work on and fine tuning their typing skills with this program. Each student will need to complete 15 lessons. Students may also log onto albanyelem.weebly.com to work at home as well.
This past Monday we completed our "Save Sam" activity. Students learned that many times the first procedure devised to complete a challenge may need to be rethought. Scientists need to use perseverance to develop their ideas. This week in science students began working on researching an important inventor or scientist. They will create several slides explaining why this scientist/inventor was/is an important part our history.
Albany Elementary has a recycling program called Trash 2 Cash. Students are encouraged to bring in the following items to promote recycling and raise money for their school! Items such as GoGo squeeze pouches get sent to a company where they are up-cycled into other materials. The goal of the company is to keep plastic out of landfills. Pop tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald house. Thanks for collecting!
