This week in math we continued our work with multiply and dividing. Students worked on dividing decimals by a whole number. We also learned about writing exponents three different ways. We wrote them in standard notation, as a product of a factor, and as a base number with an exponent. Students were able to use calculators for any exponent over 3. We will be reviewing Monday and Tuesday of this week, and then test on Wednesday.
In language we have continued to work on identifying and correcting fragments and run-on sentences. We edited our Pioneer Days essay to fix any we may have had in our writing. We will be typing our essays this week, and continue to use them as an editing tool as we discuss language skills.
We took a deep look at the Scientific Process this week. We began the week talking about observations and inferences. Did your child tell you I ate a candle during class? If he/she didn't, ask them about it! We have also be practicing creating and reading different types of graphs. We have just a few experiments left to complete in the upcoming week. We will have one final test next week, before moving to a different unit.
This is the last week that students will have time in school to complete the typing program we have been working on. Many students have already done so. If they have not yet completed it, they will be spending a few reteach days working on it to finish it. They can also work on this program at home as well.
Up Coming Dates:
We will be watching a movie on Wednesday afternoon. Students may bring a treat to share with the class, and an extra snack and beverage to enjoy during the movie.
Early Dismissal - Friday, November 2nd
No School - Monday, November 5th
Have a great week!
