We are playing a little catch up on Monthly Activities. On Wednesday, students that have made the February activity will be going swimming at the high school pool! Next month we plan on going bowling. Report cards will be coming home on Monday, March 25th.
In math this week we continued to learn about Algebraic Expressions. We solved expressions by replacing the variable with a given number, and following what we previously learned about Order of Operations. We also had to read a story problem, and then write the expression for the given problem. For the past few weeks we have also had a high school student helping and observing in class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This past Thursday was her last class time with us. She brought a math problem that she had to solve in her math class. Students were able to see a wonderful example of why they need to show all of their work. We will test next Tuesday, April 2nd.
This week in language we finished typing our poetry books and YAYA essays. YAYA winners will be announced on Monday. Students turned in some great creative writing. Students also choose the famous person they will be researching, and presenting during our wax museum at the end of the year. On Tuesday we will be getting our notebooks ready for our research notes. On Wednesday, students will be going to the media center to locate books that will help them learn as much as possible about their famous person. We will continue to work on this project until the end of May.
On Wednesday of this past week, students had the opportunity to share their biome presentation with 1st and 2nd graders. All students had a lot of fun sharing, and did a great job. We then began our next chapter which will focus on animal adaptations. This is a very short chapter, and we will be testing next week Monday, April 1st. We also had a great presentation given by Jamie Wilson about honeybees, and how they adapt and change to their environment.
Social Test will be Monday, March 25th
