It is hard to believe that we will be starting the month of May this week. May will be a very busy month as we wrap up the end of this school year. Just a reminder that there will be a full day of school on Friday, May 3rd. Students did well with both reading and math MCA testing. We just have science MCA testing left next week.
On Thursday of this past week, students were very excited to experiment with various band instruments. Students will be receiving a form in regards to a parent meeting for those interested in participating in band next year.
This week we began our next math unit. This unit will focus on functions, inequalities, and integers. This unit began with students graphing and identifying ordered pairs. On Friday we began working with function tables. For each table, students were given a rule which they needed to use to complete either the input or the output. We will continue this lesson on Monday, and then move to students interpreting the table and writing the rule. We will test on this unit Wednesday, May 8th.
Students are continuing to work on their research report. Most students are working on their written rough draft. The completed report is due on May 15th. Students will be brining home a form this week discussing the Wax Museum guidelines for May 23rd. Your child will be sharing this form with you to discuss, have you sign, and then return to school.
We will be testing on our Forces of Motion unit on Monday. On Tuesday, we will be taking the practice test for the science MCA test. Wednesday we will begin working with our simple machine kits. Students will have the opportunity to explore building various types of simple machines. They will also make changes to these machines, and determine how the change also changes how the machine works.
