Monday is the last day to bring in any donations you may have for our Backyard BBQ raffle basket. Thanks!
In math we are continuing our work with perimeter and area of triangles, rectangles, parallelograms and composite shapes. We also have been identifying shapes based on their nets. A net is a 3D shape that can be opened or unfolded along its edges to create a flat shape. We also worked on identifying different prisms and pyramids, and discussed the characteristics that define each of these polygons. On Friday we were introduced to, and practiced solving various volume problems of rectangles.
Last week in science students had the opportunity to explore various land and water biomes we have been discussing. We were able to use the VR glasses to take a closer look at each biome. Students enjoyed using the experience of using the glasses. It was also very enjoyable watching them as well! Students also had the chance to participate in various other activities listed on a tic tac toe board. These activities ranged from using Google Maps links to view land biomes, or using their knowledge of biomes to complete a digital breakout room. Our test will be Tuesday, February 11th.
Students tested in social studies on Friday. They will begin a new chapter this coming week.
In language students are working on a preposition house. Students chose a room in their home to illustrate, and then used various prepositions to describe this room. They will be working on their final drafts at the beginning of this week. These projects will be hanging on the wall outside our room during conferences for you to enjoy.
