We are coming up on the last week of the second trimester. You are going to notice that we have several big projects that are coming to a conclusion this up coming week. Please check in with your child periodically during the week to check on his/her progress.
It was also the end of I Love to Read Month. We concluded with building a rocket to send our astronaut Comet into outer space. There were several students that brought in supplies. and then worked on this project during reteach times. We also had a student who volunteered to write the story of Comet’s adventures, and another student volunteered to read it on flipgrid to earn us some extra booster points! Great team work!
We have continued our work with converting between fractions, decimals and percents inn math. Most students have been doing extremely well with these conversion. On Friday we concluded the week with a quiz which included our focus skills for this unit, as well as prime factorization, greatest common factor, and least common multiple. We will be testing on this chapter next week Friday, March 6th.
Students have been working hard on completing their biome project. They are have some fantastic ideas for their presentations and are looking great. I told students it would be wonderful if they could also share their projects with someone at home. The final project is due on Wednesday, March 4th. They will be presenting them to second grade on Thursday March 5th.
In social studies students are learning about Spanish and French settlements in North America. They are also working on a opinion paper describing what they believe are important issues for next our President to focus on. Mr. Feldewerd handed out information about the paper previously in the week. They have also had two class periods to begin working on the assignment. It will be due on March 6th.
In language all students have recited their memorized poems this week, and are finalizing poems. They are then typing them in Google Classroom. This project is due on March 6th.
